The criteria for Reach organisations

Our mission is to provide fulfilling skilled volunteering opportunities to business and professional people to enable voluntary and community organisation to improve their effectiveness.

The following organisations qualify for Reach’s standard services:
  • All charities registered in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
  • Credit unions
  • Community interest companies.

We will also consider small community organisations, where

  • they have clear charitable aims and can demonstrate public benefit as defined by the Charity Commission
  • they can satisfy Reach that they provide a public benefit related to these aims
  • they could conceivably become registered charities in the future. This group includes unincorporated associations.

In addition, we provide charged-for services to the following types of organisation, where they can demonstrate clear, charitable aim and public benefit.

  • Social enterprise organisations which are not charities
  • Statutory Sector
  • Housing associations that are not charities
  • Partnership organisations that involve the voluntary sector.

All organisations registering with Reach will be expected to agree to our terms and conditions.

 The Criteria for Reach Volunteers

Reach works with volunteers who have skills which can have a significant impact on the effectiveness of voluntary and community organisations in the UK. Our volunteers have usually had at least three years experience in the workplace.

We do not offer volunteering roles that provide training or work experience. We do not register volunteers who are looking for work placements. All our volunteers will have established skills gained through their experience in the work place. For example, our finance related voluntary roles, such as treasurers, are suitable for qualified accountants or people with board level financial experience not for those who are still training.

We can sometime make an exception for volunteers who have training but no experience in new technologies such as graphic design, web design and digital media. Where we receive applications from potential volunteer with these particular skill sets, we will consider their registrations on a case by case basis.
